Kelly Osbourne slams WWE star Becky Lynch after she made an insensitive joke about Ozzy Osbourne’s death during Raw in Birmingham. Fans react to the controversial WWE moment.
Kelly Osbourne has publicly criticized WWE star Becky Lynch for making a controversial joke about her late father, heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, during WWE Raw in his hometown of Birmingham.
Ozzy Osbourne’s Legacy
Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic Black Sabbath frontman, passed away at the age of 76 on July 22, surrounded by his family at his Buckinghamshire estate. He had been battling Parkinson’s disease and ultimately died of a heart attack.
Before his passing, Ozzy performed a final, emotional show in Birmingham, reuniting Black Sabbath for the first time in 20 years and raising $190 million for charity. His life was honored with a public procession through Birmingham attended by his wife Sharon Osbourne and four of their six children: Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.
The Controversial WWE Joke
On August 25, Netflix streamed WWE Raw live from Birmingham’s BP Pulse Live arena. During the show, after some on-screen rivalry with Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch made a remark about Birmingham and Ozzy Osbourne that angered fans and the Osbourne family.
Lynch said:
“I’m not wrestling in Birmingham. The only good thing that came out of here died a month ago. But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA, a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.”
Kelly Osbourne’s Response
Kelly Osbourne took to Instagram to express her outrage, calling Lynch a “disrespectful dirtbag.” She posted:
“Birmingham would not piss on you if you were on fire. #birminghamforever. Shame on the @WWE for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!!!”
Ozzy Osbourne’s WWE History
Ozzy and WWE have a long history. He appeared at WrestleMania II in 1986 to manage The British Bulldogs, returned in the 2000s to guest-host Raw, and had several of his songs featured in WWE programming. In 2021, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame (Celebrity Wing) in recognition of his contributions.
Public Reaction
Fans quickly expressed their disappointment on social media. One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“Becky Lynch shoulda just stuck to the boring ‘your football teams are s**t’ attempts at getting heat… Scraping the barrel with the Ozzy comments. Weird vibes.”
Another added:
“@BeckyLynchWWE dropping that comment about Ozzy was too soon and not cool. Low hanging fruit and highly disappointing.”
