Catherine Corcoran, known for her role in Terrifier, sues producers over a nude scene and breach of contract. Find out more about the legal battle involving the film franchise and allegations of sexual harassment.

Catherine Corcoran, an actress from the Terrifier franchise, has filed a lawsuit against the movie’s producers, claiming a breach of contract and the distribution of sexually explicit material without her consent. The lawsuit was filed in a California federal court on October 26, 2025, and has drawn attention due to the controversial nature of the Terrifier films, known for their graphic content and shocking scenes.

In her lawsuit, Corcoran accuses Terrifier director Damien Leone, producer Phil Falcone, and the production companies Dark Age Cinema and Fuzz on the Lens Productions of exploiting her during the making of the movie. She claims that, as part of her deal, she was entitled to one percent of the movie’s profits but received minimal and irregular royalty payments—only around $8,300 since the premiere of Terrifier 2 in 2022. When Corcoran approached the producers about the payment issues, she says her concerns were ignored.

Nude Scene Controversy and Lack of Consent

One of the key issues in the lawsuit is a nude scene in which Corcoran’s character is shown hanging upside down, shortly before being killed by the iconic character Art the Clown. Corcoran claims that she was not made aware of the full nudity required for the scene, nor was she given the opportunity to provide written consent for such content. According to industry standards set by SAG-AFTRA, performers must be informed in advance about any nudity or sexually explicit material involved in a role, and must provide meaningful, written consent.

Corcoran’s legal team argues that the producers violated these standards and subjected her to uncomfortable and unsafe working conditions. The actress also claims that the scene, in which she was suspended by her ankles, caused her physical harm, including cranial swelling and eardrum damage.

Franchise’s Infamy and Legal Repercussions

The Terrifier franchise, known for its extreme gore and graphic special effects, gained notoriety after Terrifier 2 caused some audience members to pass out and vomit in theaters due to its intense scenes. This has only heightened the controversy surrounding Corcoran’s allegations, as the films have attracted a loyal but polarized fanbase.

Corcoran’s attorney, Devin McRae, emphasized that the success of the Terrifier franchise was in part due to the actress’s willingness to take risks for a low-budget production. “Were it not for Corcoran’s willingness to take a risk on this production and receive her compensation on the back-end, the series would not exist as it could not have been made on a shoe-string budget otherwise,” McRae said.

As the legal battle progresses, it may have significant implications for the industry, particularly regarding how low-budget films handle compensation and ensure the safety and consent of their performers.

The producers, including Damien Leone and Phil Falcone, have denied the claims and are expected to vigorously defend the lawsuit.
