Jennifer Lawrence opens up about asking Robert Pattinson about his infamous cheating scandal with Kristen Stewart. Here’s what she had to say about it during a recent interview.
Jennifer Lawrence, known for her candid and bold nature, recently shared a funny and unexpected moment from her time working with Robert Pattinson on the upcoming psychological black comedy-drama Die My Love. In a conversation on The Graham Norton Show, Lawrence revealed that she couldn’t resist asking Pattinson about one of Hollywood’s most infamous cheating scandals — his breakup with Kristen Stewart.

The scandal in question rocked the internet back in 2012, when Stewart, Pattinson’s Twilight co-star and girlfriend, admitted to having an affair with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. This revelation came after paparazzi photos surfaced of Stewart kissing Sanders, sparking widespread media coverage. The couple, once considered the “it” couple of Hollywood, split after the affair, though they briefly rekindled their relationship before officially parting ways in 2013.
While discussing their shared experiences in blockbuster franchises—Lawrence’s fame skyrocketed after portraying Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, while Pattinson’s stardom was built on the Twilight saga—Lawrence admitted that her curiosity got the best of her. “If you think I didn’t ask him about Donald Trump tweeting about the breakup with Kristen? I mean, obviously,” Lawrence joked on the show.

She was referring to the moment when, just days after the photos of Stewart and Sanders surfaced, Donald Trump took to Twitter (now X) to comment on the breakup. In a tweet that sent shockwaves through the media, Trump advised Pattinson not to take Stewart back, writing, “She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again—just watch. He can do much better!”
The Scandal That Shook Hollywood
The cheating scandal was widely covered in the media, and both Stewart and Sanders issued public apologies. Stewart called her actions a “momentary indiscretion” and expressed regret for the hurt and embarrassment caused, while Sanders, who was married to model Liberty Ross at the time, apologized for the pain he caused his family. Despite the intense fallout, Pattinson and Stewart briefly reunited, but their relationship ended for good in 2013.

During her interview, Lawrence made it clear that she had no judgment regarding the scandal, noting, “Young people make mistakes.” She also said she felt no ill will towards Stewart and Pattinson, acknowledging the natural curiosity that can arise about high-profile relationships.
Moving On
More than a decade later, both Pattinson and Stewart have moved on from their past. Stewart is now married to screenwriter Dylan Meyer, while Pattinson is engaged to English singer Suki Waterhouse, with whom he shares a child.
Despite their past, Stewart and Pattinson seem to have found peace. In fact, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke shared a light-hearted story on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast about how she, Stewart, and Pattinson all ended up at Pattinson’s 37th birthday party in 2023, proving that any awkwardness from the past has long since been put behind them.
