A deadly shooting outside Lincoln University’s International Cultural Center during homecoming celebrations has left one person dead and six others injured. Authorities are investigating the incident.
At least one person has tragically died, and six others have been injured following a shooting at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania during its homecoming celebrations. The shooting occurred outside the International Cultural Center after a football game, with several individuals struck by gunfire, while others were injured as people fled in panic.
Authorities have confirmed that the shooting took place around 55 miles west of Philadelphia, at the historically significant institution known as the nation’s first degree-granting Historically Black College and University.

In a statement from Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe, it was revealed that while seven people were hit by gunfire, authorities are still working to determine the details surrounding the chaotic incident. “We are devastated to announce tonight that one person has died, and six others have been struck by gunfire,” de Barrena-Sarobe said. “It was a chaotic scene, and people fled in every direction.”
As the investigation continues, officials have stated that the shooting does not appear to have been a planned mass attack. While the police have taken one individual carrying a firearm into custody, the motive remains unclear at this time.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Safety
Authorities from local, state, and federal agencies are working together to piece together exactly how the tragedy unfolded. The Chester County District Attorney’s office emphasized that, although the situation remains under investigation, they do not currently believe the attack was premeditated as part of a mass shooting event.

The area around the International Cultural Center remains an active crime scene, and authorities are urging the public to avoid the vicinity. Those injured in the shooting have been taken to a nearby hospital in Delaware for treatment, but their conditions have not been confirmed.
Lincoln University officials have assured the community that counseling services will be available for those affected by the traumatic event. Governor Josh Shapiro also expressed his condolences, stating, “Join Lori and me in praying for the Lincoln University community.”
