In 2017, Meeks opened up about his difficult upbringing, admitting that even though he was often praised for his looks, it didn’t make life easier. “I heard all my life, ‘you’re so handsome, you have the most beautiful eyes,’” he said. “But it didn’t fix it then.”

Meeks reflected on the struggles of growing up with a father who was serving a life sentence in prison and a mother who battled heroin addiction. “I still had a father in prison doing life, I still had a heroin-addict mother, and me and my brother and sisters were struggling through life’s tribulations,” he shared.

Despite his good looks and subsequent success, Meeks acknowledged that it wasn’t enough to solve the challenges he faced growing up. The external validation of his appearance couldn’t erase the emotional scars from his troubled childhood.

Speaking further about his childhood in a 2019 podcast interview, Meeks revealed that both of his parents struggled with heroin addiction. “My dad committed a murder when I was nine months old and killed my mom’s best friend,” he said, describing his early years as “very dark.”

At 41 years old, Meeks has transformed from the troubled youth in his mugshot to a polished figure in the entertainment industry. His high-fashion look has secured him a lasting place in Hollywood, but he hasn’t forgotten the lessons from his past.
