Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and former President Donald Trump’s ongoing tension has taken another turn after a recent comment from Trump about Thunberg’s “anger management issues.” The comment came after Thunberg was deported from Israel, where she had been participating in a protest for Gaza.
The 22-year-old Thunberg was detained along with more than 100 other activists on Monday during the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza, a convoy of boats aiming to break the blockade on the region. She was later deported to Athens, Greece, where she addressed cheering supporters at the airport.
Trump’s Remarks on Thunberg
As is often the case between the two figures, Trump wasted no time in commenting on Thunberg’s latest actions. The former US president called Thunberg a “troublemaker” and questioned why she appeared so angry at such a young age. He also suggested that she had “anger management issues” and should seek professional help.
“She is just a troublemaker… she’s no longer into the environment now. She’s a troublemaker. She has an anger management problem. I think she should see a doctor… Have you ever watched her? She’s a young person. She’s so angry, she’s so crazy… She’s just a troublemaker,” Trump remarked.
Thunberg’s Brutal Response
Thunberg, known for her unapologetic and direct approach, did not let Trump’s comments go unanswered. She took to Instagram with a sharp retort.
“I heard Donald Trump once again has expressed his very flattering opinions on my character, and I appreciate his concerns for my mental health,” Thunberg wrote. “To Trump. I would kindly receive any recommendations you might have to deal with these so-called ‘anger management problems’ since – judging by your impressive track record – you seem to be suffering from them too.”
Thunberg’s comment, which was a direct dig at Trump’s often volatile temperament, quickly gained attention on social media, with many of her supporters applauding her quick-witted response.
