Kayla Nicole hits back after Taylor Swift releases a track on her new album The Life of a Showgirl, which fans suspect is a dig at her following her breakup with Travis Kelce.
Kayla Nicole, the ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, appears to have come out swinging following the release of Taylor Swift’s latest album The Life of a Showgirl. Fans have speculated that one of the tracks, titled “Opalite,” contains a pointed reference to Nicole, who was in a relationship with Kelce from 2017 to 2022. Kelce is now reportedly engaged to Swift.

In the song “Opalite,” Swift sings, “You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone/You were in it for real, she was in her phone/And you were just a pose,” leading many Swifties to believe the lyrics are aimed at Nicole. Social media quickly erupted with fans speculating that Swift was throwing shade at Nicole, with one user writing, “The Kayla Nicole shade in ‘Opalite’?!?!” Another said, “She disses Kayla Nicole in ‘Opalite’,” while a third added, “The Kayla Nicole shade sent me I know Taylor is tired of her ass always talking about him.”
In response to the alleged diss, Nicole, 33, shared a bold statement on her Instagram Stories shortly after the album dropped on October 3. Nicole reposted a reel featuring America’s Next Top Model star Eva Marcille. In the video, Marcille, when asked how she compares to other models, confidently responds: “I don’t compare myself to other girls. I’m Eva. I’m no comparison to anyone else.”

Nicole also shared pictures from a dinner she attended on the same night, hosted by Hollywood Confidential in LA. “What an honor to share a table with some of the most iconic ‘girlfriends’ of all time,” she captioned the post. “Women whose art has been a mirror and a reminder of what’s possible at every stage of my womanhood. Thank you @hollywoodconfidential for creating space to celebrate visibility, sisterhood, and storytelling in its truest form.”
Adding a bold touch to her Stories, Nicole also posted a meme that read, “And when God give you ball, BALL.” This phrase appeared to signal her resilience and refusal to be drawn into negativity.
Since Swift and Kelce began their relationship, Nicole has faced criticism for continuing to discuss her past relationship with Kelce during interviews. However, the podcaster has repeatedly hit back at critics. In one memorable response, Nicole commented, “Life handed me lemons and I made a lemon martini out of it and that upsets people.”
While the full story behind Swift’s lyrics remains unclear, it’s evident that Nicole isn’t letting the situation affect her, choosing instead to stay confident and focused on her own journey.
