Trump’s Claim of Never Drinking Raises Doubts: Former Workers Share Contradictory Stories

Donald Trump claims to have never drunk alcohol, but former nightlife workers and sources have contradicted his statement, revealing he may have consumed alcohol in the past. Find out more about the conflicting stories.

Donald Trump has long claimed to have never consumed alcohol, a statement he reiterated during an appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, This Past Weekend, in 2022. Trump spoke about his sobriety, attributing it to lessons learned from his late brother, Fred Trump Jr., who struggled with alcohol addiction and passed away at the age of 42 from a heart attack in 1981.

Trump told Von: “I had a great brother who taught me a lesson… He smoked and drank, had a problem with alcohol… but I tell people, ‘No drugs, no drinking, no cigarettes’. I tell that to my kids all the time.” He also mentioned that he admired his brother’s personality but feared he might have developed similar problems if he had followed in his footsteps.

While Trump’s dedication to sobriety is understandable, some are questioning his claim of never drinking alcohol, citing various testimonies from people who interacted with him in the past.

In the 2019 book The Method to the Madness: Donald Trump’s Ascent as Told by Those Who Were Hired, Fired, Inspired—and Inaugurated, multiple sources, including bartenders, models, and club owners, painted a different picture. One bartender, identified as Laraby, claimed to have served Trump in the 1990s at a New York bar. According to Laraby, Trump would order light beer, such as Miller Lite or Bud Light, and nurse the drink for hours, consuming only three beers during his visits.

Additionally, Michael Ault, the owner of Spy Bar and Chaos in Manhattan, said Trump preferred champagne or vodka, suggesting that he was more inclined to enjoy spirits than beer.

However, not all sources contradict Trump’s story. Paolo Zampolli, the founder of ID Models, remembers a night when Trump introduced Melania Trump to the world at the Kit Kat Club. Zampolli noted that while there were drinks like champagne and vodka on the table, Trump himself only had Diet Coke, which aligns with his long-standing preference for the beverage.

Despite these conflicting accounts, Trump’s claim of never drinking alcohol remains a topic of debate. While some sources support his story of sobriety, others have cast doubt on the consistency of his claims.

The president’s fondness for Diet Coke, particularly the “Diet Coke button” in the Oval Office, has become a hallmark of his public persona, but the question remains: did Trump ever drink alcohol, or is his claim of total sobriety accurate?
