Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after being convicted on prostitution-related charges. Learn more about his sentence, including the fine and supervised release.
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months (more than four years) in prison and fined $500,000 after being convicted on prostitution-related charges. The music mogul was arrested last September in New York, and following a high-profile trial, was found guilty of two counts under the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.
The Mann Act, originally passed in 1910, was designed to combat human trafficking and immoral acts such as prostitution. Combs’ conviction stems from the so-called “freak-offs”—drug-fueled, multi-day sex parties allegedly orchestrated by Combs, where participants were paid to travel across state lines for sexual encounters. These parties often involved male sex workers and his then-girlfriends, with some incidents being filmed.
Judge Arun Subramanian handed down the sentence on October 3, three months after Combs was convicted of two counts related to transporting individuals for prostitution. Although Combs was originally indicted on charges including sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and racketeering conspiracy, the jury acquitted him of the more severe charges during the summer trial. What remained were two convictions under the Mann Act, each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Judge Rejects Leniency Argument
In court, the defense requested a lighter sentence of 14 months, but Judge Subramanian rejected this argument, stating that such a term would be insufficient for the severity of Combs’ actions. While the judge acknowledged the difficulty of prison time, he emphasized that Combs would still have a life after serving his sentence.
Prosecutors had initially urged a sentence exceeding 11 years, highlighting the gravity of Combs’ conduct and the potential danger posed to his accusers. However, the judge ultimately imposed a 50-month sentence, along with a $500,000 fine, and five years of supervised release following Combs’ release from prison.
What Did the Judge Say During Diddy’s Sentencing?
During the sentencing, Judge Subramanian spoke directly to Combs, acknowledging the victims involved. He strongly criticized the defense’s portrayal of the incidents as consensual, rejecting that argument entirely.

“A history of good works can’t wash away the record in this case. You abused these women,” the judge stated. “The evidence of the abuse is massive. The drugs may have exacerbated your erratic and violent behavior, but the court must consider your full history.”
The judge’s remarks underscored the severity of the abuse and the long-lasting harm inflicted on the victims involved.
What Happens Next?
Combs has already served 13 months in detention, which means he faces about three more years in prison. He has expressed his intention to appeal the conviction, and the legal fallout from this case continues. In addition to the criminal case, Combs is also facing over 50 civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct, which further complicates his legal situation.
