A new poll reveals a surprising amount of support for Donald Trump’s impeachment, with nearly half of voters backing the move. Learn about the allegations and reasons behind this growing demand.
A recent poll has shown that a surprising number of people support impeaching President Donald Trump, with nearly half of voters in swing districts backing the move. The poll, conducted by Lake Research Partners and commissioned by Free Speech For People, highlights the growing discontent with the president and his policies.

Trump, who has already been impeached twice during his presidency, is facing increased scrutiny after a series of controversial actions. His first impeachment, which took place in December 2019, was tied to his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where he allegedly pressured Zelenskyy to launch an investigation into his political rival, Joe Biden. The Senate acquitted Trump of the charges in February 2020.
The second impeachment came after the January 6 Capitol riots, where Trump was accused of inciting an insurrection. He was once again acquitted by the Senate in February 2021. But now, according to the latest poll, nearly 46 percent of likely voters support Trump’s impeachment, with 45 percent of them expressing strong support for the move.

Growing Discontent and Calls for Impeachment
The poll results come as Constitutional lawyers, spearheading the Impeach Trump Again campaign, have outlined 25 grounds for impeachment. Some of these grounds include:
Threats of War and Federal Overreach: Critics argue that Trump has used military force within U.S. cities, including a federal takeover of local police in Washington, D.C., and Chicago, which some claim could have escalated into a war-like situation.

Attacks on Federal Agencies: Allegations have been made that Trump has systematically undermined core nonpartisan federal agencies, like the FBI and Department of Justice, turning them into political tools to target his adversaries.
Continuous Attacks on the First Amendment: Trump’s attempts to censor media figures, including threatening legal action against Jimmy Kimmel’s show, have raised concerns about his commitment to free speech.

Aggressive Immigration Policies: Trump’s administration has been criticized for its ramped-up ICE raids, harsh immigration policies, and attempts to deport refugee children, as well as plans for the largest deportation operation in U.S. history.

Experts Call It an ‘Existential Moment’
Legal experts are increasingly worried about Trump’s actions, calling them an “existential moment” for the United States. Courtney Hostetler, Legal Director at Free Speech For People, argued that Trump’s assault on constitutional protections and public institutions is a direct threat to democracy.

John Bonifaz, President and Co-Founder of Free Speech For People, added, “We either have a Constitution, or we don’t. Trump has already engaged in multiple abuses of power. We demand that Congress carry out the mandate of their oath to protect the Constitution.”

What’s Next for Trump and Impeachment?
With just weeks before the 2026 election, Trump’s controversial actions and policies continue to fuel calls for impeachment. The poll results underscore the dissatisfaction among voters, particularly in swing districts, as they express their desire for stronger accountability and action against what they perceive as a lawless administration.
