Jay Cutler, the former NFL quarterback best known for his time with the Chicago Bears, has begun serving time behind bars following a plea deal in a DUI case.
The 42-year-old was booked into Williamson County Jail in Franklin, Tennessee on Monday, September 29, to begin a four-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge.
🚨 What Happened?
The charges stem from an October 2024 incident in which Cutler allegedly rear-ended another vehicle.
When police arrived at the scene, they reported that Cutler:

Had bloodshot eyes
Was slurring his speech
Refused a field sobriety test
Later admitted to having “a little bit” of alcohol
Had two firearms in the car, one loaded
⚖️ The Charges and Plea Deal
Initially, Cutler was facing multiple charges:
Driving under the influence (DUI)
Reckless driving
Violation of implied consent law
Unlawful possession of a firearm while intoxicated
But after striking a deal with prosecutors, Cutler pleaded guilty only to the DUI, and in exchange:
The firearms and reckless driving charges were dropped
He received 4 days in jail
He must complete a DUI safety course
His driver’s license is suspended for 1 year
He’ll serve 1 year of unsupervised probation

And pay a $350 fine
🧑⚖️ From NFL Glory to Courtroom Headlines
Jay Cutler played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins.
His life off the field, however, has been anything but quiet, especially since his high-profile divorce from reality TV star Kristin Cavallari in 2020.
💔 Divorce, Drama, and Dollars
Cutler and Cavallari share three children:
Camden (13)
Jaxon (11)
Saylor (9)
The couple’s divorce has made headlines over ongoing financial disputes, with Cavallari previously claiming she received “not a penny” in the split.
Cutler fired back on his Take It Outside podcast, calling her remarks “borderline slander.”
“It’s insanity and it’s completely false,” he said. “I’ve got a divorce decree… it says the number breakdown.”
