Donald Trump demands an investigation into the malfunctioning escalator, teleprompter, and sound system at the UN, calling it “triple sabotage” and a “disgrace.” The incident has sparked widespread debate.

Donald Trump has called for an investigation into what he described as “sinister events” during his appearance at the United Nations General Assembly earlier this week. While important global matters were discussed, it was a series of technical malfunctions that quickly stole the headlines, leading to a rare outburst from the former president.

During his visit to the UN in New York City, Trump and Melania Trump encountered a series of unfortunate glitches, beginning with a malfunctioning escalator. As the couple stepped onto the escalator, it suddenly stopped, forcing them to walk up the stairs instead. Videos of the incident quickly circulated, showing the Trumps holding onto the handrail as they made their way up.

Following this incident, the teleprompter during Trump’s speech also malfunctioned, and the sound system reportedly failed as well. The White House was quick to react, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt stating that there would be “accountability” if it was determined the malfunctions were intentional.

Trump himself took to Truth Social on Wednesday to express his frustration, calling the series of events “triple sabotage” and demanding an investigation. “A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday — Not one, not two, but three very sinister events!” he wrote. “This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”

While the UN attributed the escalator malfunction to an inadvertent safety mechanism activation, Trump’s camp remained unconvinced. The incident, dubbed “Escalatorgate” by some, became a major topic of discussion in the media.

During his speech at the General Assembly, Trump laughed off the technical issues but expressed his discontent, saying, “All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that on the way up stopped right in the middle. And then a teleprompter that didn’t work.”

The mishaps sparked a wave of reactions online, with some expressing sympathy for Trump’s frustration, while others questioned the severity of his response. Regardless, the incident has drawn significant attention, and the call for an investigation is only fueling the ongoing debate about the UN’s handling of the situation.
