Donald Trump claims sabotage after an escalator malfunctioned during his UN meeting, and he demands an investigation. His comments about technical issues at the General Assembly have caused a stir.
Donald Trump has stirred controversy once again with his remarks about a malfunctioning escalator during his UN meeting in New York. The former president, visibly frustrated by the incident, suggested that the issue might have been part of a wider conspiracy, even calling it “sabotage.”
While attending the UN General Assembly this week, Trump encountered technical difficulties, including a malfunctioning escalator that caused him and Melania Trump to walk up the rest of the way. In a subsequent post on Truth Social, Trump didn’t hold back, calling the incident an act of sabotage. He also referenced a report from the Times of London, which claimed that UN staff members had joked about turning off the escalators and blaming it on US funding cuts.

According to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, the escalator issue could have been intentional. Leavitt pointed to the report as evidence of the alleged plot against the president. Additionally, Trump reported issues with the teleprompter and audio during his speech at the General Assembly, making it an even more frustrating experience.
However, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric addressed these claims, explaining that the escalator malfunction was due to a safety mechanism being triggered by a person in front of Trump. As for the teleprompter issue, Dujarric clarified that it was operated by the White House, so the UN had no comment.
Despite these clarifications, Trump took to social media to air his grievances. In a lengthy Truth Social post, he wrote, “This was absolutely sabotage… The people that did it should be arrested!” He also mentioned that World Leaders couldn’t hear his speech unless they used interpreters’ earpieces, adding fuel to his claims of intentional disruption.

He concluded his post with a call for action: “I’m sending a copy of this letter to the Secretary General, and I demand an immediate investigation.”
Trump’s remarks have drawn widespread reactions online. Some users on Twitter were critical of his demands, with one person commenting, “Off with their heads!!! This fool thinks he’s a king.” Others expressed disbelief at his response to the escalator issue, calling it an example of “first-world problems” or referring to him as “the most fragile man alive.”
While Trump’s outburst over the escalator incident may seem trivial to some, it has sparked a larger conversation about his behavior and his handling of public events. Whether or not the situation was indeed sabotage remains unclear, but it’s clear that this incident has become a point of contention in the ongoing political discourse.
