Police have identified the body found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to singer d4vd. The victim was 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, missing since 2024.

Los Angeles police have issued a major update after a decomposing body was discovered in the trunk of a Tesla registered to U.S. singer d4vd (David Anthony Burke).

The grim discovery was made earlier this month when a foul smell was reported coming from a vehicle at a Hollywood tow yard. The Tesla, which had been at the yard for several days, was later confirmed to belong to the singer, who is currently on his Withered Tour.

On September 8, 2025, LAPD officers responded to a call on Mansfield Avenue. Detectives searched the Tesla and located what appeared to be human remains inside the trunk. At the time, police said the case was being treated as a death investigation, and no details about the vehicle’s owner were initially shared.

A representative for d4vd later confirmed the car was his but stressed that the artist was “fully cooperating with the authorities” while continuing his tour. One of his scheduled concerts in Seattle was canceled following the news.

Authorities have now confirmed the victim as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who had been reported missing in April 2024 when she was just 13 years old.

According to a missing person poster, Rivas was described as 5ft 3, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and dark brown hair. She was last seen near Lake Elsinore, California.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner reported last week that the remains matched a female about 5ft 2 tall with wavy black hair. Investigators also noted a tattoo on her finger that read “Shhh”, which helped confirm her identity.

The LAPD said they have not yet determined the time or cause of death. They believe the girl may have been dead for an extended period of time but stressed that no suspects have been identified.

“At this time, the LAPD does not have a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death,” officials said, per NBC News.
