Donald Trump reacts after Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show is suspended over Charlie Kirk comments, sparking backlash and heated debate.
Donald Trump has hit back at Jimmy Kimmel after the late-night host’s show was suddenly pulled from the air following controversial comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kimmel, who has hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live for more than 20 years, faced suspension after mocking Trump and his supporters in the wake of Kirk’s shocking assassination.
An ABC spokesperson confirmed the program will be “pre-empted indefinitely,” though no official reason was given. Kimmel has yet to comment publicly on the suspension.
Backlash Over Kimmel’s Remarks
During his opening monologue on September 15, Kimmel criticized Trump supporters for “desperately trying to spin” the tragedy and accused the former president of focusing more on the White House’s new $200 million ballroom project than on grieving.

Kimmel joked:
“Yes, he’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction. Demolition, construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish.”
The comments drew mixed reactions online. Actor Ben Stiller defended Kimmel, calling ABC’s decision unfair. Meanwhile, several Republican figures demanded the comedian be fired.
Trump’s Scathing Response
Trump, currently visiting the UK, celebrated the suspension on Truth Social, writing:

“Great News for America: The ratings-challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible.”
He further attacked other late-night hosts, saying NBC should “do the same” with Seth Meyers.
The controversy has ignited debate about free speech, political satire, and media bias, leaving fans and critics divided over whether ABC made the right call.
