A new Morning Consult poll reveals Donald Trump’s approval ratings eight months into his second term. See which 25 states support him and which 24 have turned against him.
Trump’s Approval Ratings: The Latest Numbers
Eight months into his second term as U.S. President, Donald Trump’s latest approval ratings have been released — and the results show a divided nation.
According to a Morning Consult poll of 2,201 registered voters, 45% approve of Trump’s job performance while 52% disapprove.
The report highlights a significant shift: two states that once approved of Trump — North Carolina and Nevada — have now moved into the negative column.

States That Approve of Trump
A total of 25 states currently give Trump a net-positive approval rating. His strongest support comes from Wyoming, where 62% approve compared to 33% disapprove.
Other top-performing states include:
Idaho, West Virginia, South Dakota, Alabama, and Tennessee, all with approval ratings of 60% or higher.
Even in key battlegrounds like Florida, Texas, Ohio, and Georgia, Trump is still holding on to positive margins, though by much slimmer numbers.
List of 25 States with Positive Approval:
Wyoming, Idaho, West Virginia, South Dakota, Alabama, Tennessee, North Dakota, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Montana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Nebraska, Utah, South Carolina, Kansas, Alaska, Missouri, Florida, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Georgia.

States That Disapprove of Trump
On the other side, 24 states now give Trump a negative approval rating, including traditional blue strongholds like Vermont, Massachusetts, and California, but also key swing states.
In Virginia, 44% approve while 53% disapprove. Similarly, in New Jersey, Trump’s approval stands at 43%, with 54% disapproving.
List of 24 States with Negative Approval:
Vermont, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Hawaii, California, Connecticut, Washington, New Hampshire, New York, Maine, New Mexico, New Jersey, Delaware, Colorado, Minnesota, Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Nevada.
Swing States Paint a Complicated Picture
The big headline: Georgia remains the only 2024 swing state where Trump holds a net-positive rating.
This means his political footing in the Rust Belt — particularly in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania — is looking far less secure, with all three giving him negative approval scores.

A Busy and Controversial Term
Since taking office in January, Trump has signed 202 executive orders, including:
Renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America
Banning transgender athletes from female sports categories
Establishing a 250th Independence Anniversary Task Force for 2026
He has also pushed controversial tariffs, expanded immigration crackdowns, and launched fiery warnings at NATO.
The Big Picture
The poll shows that while Trump maintains strong loyalty in many Republican states, his path through swing states is narrowing — and his approval gap may become a deciding factor in future midterms and the road to 2028.
