Chilling new details have emerged about the man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot in the neck on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University. Authorities say the shooter used a bolt-action rifle from a rooftop and acted alone.
Days later, the FBI confirmed the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a Utah native who was reportedly handed in by his own father.
Suspect’s Messages to Friends
According to the New York Times, Robinson allegedly exchanged disturbing messages with friends on Discord while he was still on the run.
When friends compared FBI surveillance photos of the suspect to him, Robinson brushed it off, calling it his “doppelganger.”
In a group chat, one user joked: “Tyler killed Charlie!!!” while another suggested turning him in for the FBI’s $100,000 reward. Robinson allegedly replied: “Only if I get a cut.”
He also joked about needing to get rid of a “manifesto” and a copy of the rifle, according to screenshots shared by someone who knew him since high school.
At one point, Robinson even joked: “I’m actually Charlie Kirk. I faked my death to live my dream life in Kansas.”
Discord Responds
Discord has denied being used as a planning platform for the shooting. The company confirmed an account linked to Robinson was investigated but found no evidence of him plotting violence on their servers.
“The messages referenced in recent reporting do not appear to be Discord messages,” the company said, claiming instead they came from conversations between Robinson’s roommate and a friend after the attack.
Investigation Ongoing
While Robinson remains in custody, his grandmother insists authorities “have the wrong man.” However, prosecutors continue to build their case, with the FBI reviewing both digital evidence and forensic findings.
The shocking nature of these alleged messages adds yet another layer of complexity to the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
