A Secret Service agent has been suspended after calling Charlie Kirk’s assassination “karma” in a controversial Facebook post.
Secret Service Responds After Employee’s Controversial Post on Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
The U.S. Secret Service has placed one of its employees on leave after he posted a controversial comment online regarding the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, 31, was co-founder of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit group that promotes conservative politics across high schools and college campuses. He was fatally shot in the neck during a Q&A session at a Turning Point event on September 10, 2025. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Kirk later died from his injuries.

Backlash Over Public Reactions
The shooting has sparked strong reactions nationwide. While many mourned the activist’s death, others made remarks that fueled backlash.
For example, political commentator Matthew Dowd was fired from MSNBC after suggesting Kirk’s divisive rhetoric contributed to an environment of hate. He later apologized, stating he “never intended to blame Kirk” for the attack.
But another public figure has now faced consequences for remarks seen as inappropriate.
Secret Service Employee on Leave
Anthony Pough, a Secret Service employee, reportedly wrote on Facebook:
“If you are mourning this guy… delete me. He spewed hate and racism on his show. Especially when we should be mourning the innocent children killed in Colorado. At the end of the day, you answer to God and speak things into existence. You can only circumvent karma, she doesn’t leave.”
The post, published shortly after Kirk’s assassination, quickly went viral — prompting swift action from his employer.
A Secret Service spokesperson told the New York Post:

“The U.S. Secret Service will not tolerate any behavior which violates our code of conduct. We are aware of the employee’s social media post from today, and the individual has been placed on administrative leave as we investigate the matter.”
Ongoing Investigation
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been named the primary suspect in Kirk’s killing and remains in custody. Former President Donald Trump confirmed the arrest and described Kirk as “a very good friend.”
The FBI has not yet released a motive behind the attack, though Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted.
