A simulation shows how Charlie Kirk’s assassin had a clear vantage point from a rooftop at Utah Valley University. FBI evidence suggests a scoped hunting rifle was used.
A new simulation has explored how Charlie Kirk may have been fatally shot during his speech at Utah Valley University, showing how the assassin could have had a “clear line of sight” to his target.
Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA, was killed on September 10 while addressing a large crowd. Utah’s governor later described the tragedy as a “political assassination.”
Simulation Explains Rooftop Advantage
The video simulation, created by YouTube channel AiTelly, analyzed the scene using details released by investigators. It highlighted how the shooter, positioned on the roof of the Losee Center — just 400 feet from Kirk’s podium — would have had an unobstructed view of the stage.

“The rooftop provided a clear vantage point with open sight lines directly to the event area,” the simulation explained.
It also suggested the shooter deliberately chose an elevated, concealed position to stay undetected while maximizing escape chances.
FBI Confirms Evidence From Rooftop
Authorities have confirmed that the shooter jumped from the rooftop and fled immediately after firing. Forensic teams recovered shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print from the rooftop.
The weapon and ammunition were later found in a wooded area near the university. Officials described the firearm as a high-powered hunting rifle, consistent with the simulation’s suggestion that a scoped, long-range weapon was used.
Suspect Still at Large
As of September 12, the shooter remains at large. The FBI has released images of a person of interest, showing an individual wearing a hat, sunglasses, and a long-sleeved black shirt running across a roof.
The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the killer’s arrest.
