The FBI has found a rifle and forensic evidence linked to the assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. A nationwide manhunt for the suspect continues.
FBI Update on the Charlie Kirk Case
The FBI has issued a major update following the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.
Kirk, 31, was struck in the neck during the attack on Wednesday. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he later died from his injuries. He leaves behind his wife and two young children.
Rifle Recovered at the Scene

FBI Special Agent Robert Bohls confirmed that investigators recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle believed to be the weapon used in the attack. The firearm was discovered in a wooded area near the university, where authorities believe the shooter fled.
In addition to the rifle, the FBI is analyzing a footwear impression, a palm print, and a forearm imprint recovered at the scene. These pieces of evidence may help track down the suspect.
Public Tips and Suspect Details
The FBI has already received more than 130 tips from the public and urged anyone with photos or videos of the event to come forward.
Bohls revealed that the suspect is believed to be male and of college age, blending in with the student crowd at the university. While images of the suspect exist, the FBI has not yet released them publicly.

“We’re not releasing many details right now, but that individual appears to be of college age,” Bohls stated.
Officials added that the shooter is not currently considered a threat to the wider community.
Utah Authorities Respond
Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason confirmed that law enforcement has obtained clear video footage of the suspect, which is still being analyzed.
He also spoke about the impact on Kirk’s family:
“They are devastated. I can only imagine what they’re going through. This is not Utah. This is not what we are known for.”
Roughly 3,000 people were in attendance at the debate, including six campus police officers and Kirk’s private security team. Despite security measures, the shooter managed to strike from a distance.

University Lockdown
Following the attack, Utah Valley University was placed on lockdown and later fully evacuated. Classes remain cancelled until further notice.
Authorities have urged anyone still on campus during the incident to follow police instructions as they were safely escorted off the grounds.
Call for Support
The FBI continues its nationwide manhunt and asks for the public’s cooperation in identifying the shooter.
