Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has revealed the real reason behind his dramatic slimmed-down look, after shocking fans with his appearance at recent film events.
The Rock’s Surprising Transformation
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has finally addressed why he looks so different after recent photos of his slimmed-down physique sparked widespread concern among fans.
Known worldwide for his wrestling career, blockbuster films, and famously muscular build, Johnson’s appearance at the Venice Film Festival last month stunned audiences as he showed off a noticeably smaller frame.
While some fans praised the transformation, others expressed worry about his health.

Why Did The Rock Lose So Much Weight?
The 53-year-old actor explained that the weight loss is entirely intentional and tied to upcoming movie roles.
Johnson is currently preparing for his role as UFC fighter Mark Kerr in the highly anticipated A24 film The Smashing Machine. To match Kerr’s real-life look, Johnson has shed an estimated 60 pounds, dropping from around 300lbs to 240lbs.
But the transformation doesn’t stop there.
Preparing for “Lizard Music”
Speaking at the Toronto Film Festival, Johnson revealed that after The Smashing Machine, he will take on another demanding role in Lizard Music, where he plays a quirky character called the “Chicken Man.”
Johnson explained:
“Without giving too much away, the role I will play is a very whimsical and eccentric 70-something-year-old man called the Chicken Man, and his best friend is a 70-something-year-old chicken.”

The actor added with a laugh:
“I still have a long way to go… it means eating less chicken.”
Breaking Free from Hollywood’s Box Office Mold
Johnson also reflected on his decision to pursue more unconventional projects rather than just high-grossing action films:
“In Hollywood, it often becomes about the box office. The box office can push you into a corner, into a lane. These new roles allow me to break free of that and transform again.”
What’s Next for The Rock?
First up is The Smashing Machine, co-starring Emily Blunt and MMA legend Bas Rutten, followed by Lizard Music, which will showcase Johnson in one of his most unusual roles yet.
Fans who worried about his slimmed-down look can now rest assured — the transformation is part of his ongoing evolution as an actor, not a health scare.
