The incident happened during Friday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park. Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader launched a powerful home run into the crowd, sparking a mad dash from fans hoping to claim the souvenir ball.
Among them was a father who managed to secure the prized ball and hand it to his young son, Lincoln, who was celebrating his birthday at the game. The boy’s face lit up with excitement — until things took an unexpected turn.
A Fan’s Controversial Demand
Video footage showed a grey-haired woman who had nearly caught the ball but dropped it before the father picked it up. Moments later, she angrily approached the family, claiming the ball was hers.
“You took it from me. It was in my hand,” she argued, pointing to the area where she had fumbled the catch.
After a heated exchange, the frustrated father reluctantly handed over the ball, leaving Lincoln heartbroken — on his birthday no less.

A Marlins representative visited Lincoln during the game, presenting him with a goodie bag filled with gifts, baseballs, and surprises for both him and his sister.
Then, after the game, the Phillies made sure Lincoln’s birthday ended on a high note. Outfielder Harrison Bader personally met him and presented a signed bat — a gesture that instantly restored the magic of the day.
