Although Field and Reynolds were once deeply in love, their relationship was far from perfect. In his memoir, But Enough About Me, Reynolds reflected on their time together, expressing regret that he hadn’t worked harder to make their relationship work.

In a 2023 interview with Variety, Field explained that she and Reynolds stopped speaking in the last 30 years of his life. “He was just not good for me in any way,” she said, adding that their relationship had become unhealthy.
