Ellieana was born on March 4 with a rare heart condition called cardiomyopathy, which caused her left heart to be slightly smaller than usual. Despite her diagnosis, Ellieana’s family reported that she was thriving and spent her first weeks receiving close medical care in the NICU at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
But on March 31, just 29 days after her birth, a devastating call changed everything for her parents.

Ellieana’s parents had briefly left the hospital to take a shower when they received the gut-wrenching news that their baby had fallen from her crib. As she walked away, the cords became entangled, dragging Ellieana out of her crib, causing her to fall.
