On September 30, 2023, Carl Morgan, 36, was fatally shot outside his son’s daycare on Canal Street. The suspect, Raymond Wells, 21, allegedly stole Carl’s car after the shooting and fled the scene around 5:15 PM local time, leaving Carl and his son, Silas, behind.
Witnesses at the daycare reported that the teachers quickly ushered the children back inside when they heard the gunshot. Thankfully, Carl’s son, Silas, and the other children were unharmed during the incident.
