Brandon Isabelle faces multiple charges after allegedly killing his girlfriend and throwing their two-day-old daughter into the Mississippi River. Discover the horrifying details of this tragic case.
A chilling case out of Memphis has shocked the nation, as Brandon Isabelle, 28, stands accused of murdering his girlfriend and throwing their newborn daughter into the Mississippi River, which is known to be infested with alligators.
Isabelle has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and neglect, and aggravated kidnapping, following the deaths of his girlfriend, Danielle Hoyle, 27, and their two-day-old daughter, Kennedy Hoyle.
Isabelle appeared in court on September 23, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges. Jury selection was completed for his trial, and a panel of 10 women and four men was chosen to decide his fate.
A Tragic Chain of Events
The prosecution revealed that Isabelle and Hoyle, both employees at FedEx, had been in a sexual relationship, which led to Danielle becoming pregnant with their daughter. During the same time, Isabelle was reportedly dating another woman who wanted to end the relationship due to the pregnancy.
Danielle gave birth to Kennedy on January 31, 2022. After her release from the hospital, Isabelle invited her to meet him under the pretense of giving her baby clothes. However, this was a lie.
The prosecution claims Isabelle lured Danielle to a secluded area at the intersection of Sedgwick Street and Levi Road. There, he allegedly shot her in the head and took the baby with him. Isabelle is then accused of driving to the Mud Island Ramp, where he threw his two-day-old daughter into the river, a body of water known to be infested with alligators.
The Alleged Motive
The prosecution argues that Isabelle killed both his girlfriend and their daughter because he didn’t want the child. In a shocking confession, Isabelle allegedly admitted to investigators that he had no desire to raise his daughter. During a status conference last month, he reportedly told officials that he killed Danielle and threw the baby into the river because he simply didn’t want her.
Danielle’s body was found outside her car by Officer Cody Sutton, who testified in court about the bloodstains he saw on the driver’s seat and the body he found in a ditch near the vehicle.
A Disturbing Discovery
During their investigation, police went to Danielle’s mother’s house, where they found an Apple Watch that revealed a text message exchange. In one of the texts, Isabelle asked for the baby to be aborted, adding to the growing evidence that he did not want the child.
As of now, Kennedy’s body has not been recovered from the river.
The Investigation and Arrest
Isabelle was quickly identified as a suspect and arrested in 2022. Prosecutors claim they have DNA, video, and testimonial evidence that proves his guilt in both murders. Danielle’s mother, April Campbell, testified in court about how she had been unsupportive of her daughter’s relationship with Isabelle.
“I said, ‘If he’s married, how do you think he’s going to treat you? If he’s not even treating his wife right, how’s he going to treat you right?’” Campbell recalled.
The Case Moving Forward
The case continues to unfold, with investigators working tirelessly to gather more evidence. Isabelle’s trial will likely have profound implications for understanding how domestic violence and child abuse can tragically intersect.
