Authorities have released chilling new footage believed to show Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, just hours before the fatal shooting.
The Shooting of Charlie Kirk
On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck while attending an event at Utah Valley University. He later died from his injuries, sparking national shock and a swift manhunt for the suspect.
Within 48 hours, police arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, who is expected to be arraigned in a Utah court on September 16. While Robinson has not yet been formally charged, authorities believe he was the gunman.
New Surveillance Video Emerges
Investigators have now released security footage from a neighborhood near the campus. The video, captured on a home’s door camera, shows a gray Dodge Challenger driving past the property.
Police believe this is the same vehicle Robinson later drove to the university to carry out the attack.
More than an hour later, the footage appears to show a man matching Robinson’s description walking past the home on foot.
Ongoing Investigation and Motive
As of September 15, the exact motive remains unclear. However, Utah Governor Spencer Cox shared that Robinson held left-leaning political views and harbored resentment toward the conservative activist.
“Clearly a leftist ideology,” Cox said during an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press. He noted that Robinson has not been cooperating with investigators.
Friends of the suspect reportedly described him as someone who had become radicalized in online communities. “There was a lot of gaming going on, and friends confirmed he was spending time in the dark corners of the internet—Reddit culture and similar places,” Cox explained.
Despite his criticism, Cox urged Americans across the political spectrum to lower the temperature of political discourse, saying he would have condemned the attack regardless of ideology.
Funeral Plans Announced
Meanwhile, Kirk’s funeral service has been confirmed. The event will take place on Sunday, September 21, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, home of the Arizona Cardinals.
The student organization posted on social media:
